GR MOTOSPORT @R&Gofficial test Donington Park 2024
The @R&Gofficial BSB test at Donington was where everyone at GR Motosport came together at the track as a team for the first time this season.
On the Friday it was the first full livery parade, which really did come together so well at the last minute, for all the media capture for Television. The BSB Media Team lead by Laura Stevens put both Storm and Tom to the test – photos of the 2024 livery Helmets, RST Leathers, Top hats and caps and of course our stunning Kawasaki ZX10RR Superbikes.
Testing was to start on Saturday morning but the bad weather which has plagued the whole country for months joined us at track side with the worst thing being the wind gusting to 55 miles an hour which made the descent and change of direction down Craner Curves, interesting to say the least.
We had a few technical challenges with both bikes on the Saturday which lost quite a lot of the possible track time particularly for Tom but the Team worked through the plan ending the day on a positive note.
On the Sunday the weather was not much better but we had sorted the technical teething problems and started to put some laps together. The last session of the day was really good for the Team, the weather was closing in with heavy rain expected before the end of the session so all the Team headed out on track together – after only a couple of laps as Tom and Storm crossed the line there was a burst of rain bringing all the other riders straight back into the pits – as Tom and Storm came round to finish the lap the rain had stopped and both guys took advantage and we had 9 laps of the track to ourselves, Tom towing Storm to some good lap time and giving Duncan the commentator the opportunity to tell everyone about the Team for this year.
Storm Stacey commented “It was a good weekend with the Team on track, and I got to show off my new AGV Helmet designed by Michael Fisher and painted by Tom Haywood for the first Time. Danny and Brent have worked hard over the winter to improve my already good LKQ Euro Car Parts ZX10 Superbike and we are working hard to maximise all its potential. Next week we leave for the first round of BSB at Navarra a new track to me so I am excited to see what we can do. Tom Neave said “New Team, New Bike, New Colours and looking sharp for the press day. Saturday was quite hard work for us, the small issues we had meant losing the all-important track time I needed on a new bike. We finished the weekend quite strong and now like Storm I am going to a new track for me in Navarra but I am looking forward to it. I have joined Storm in RST Leathers and I have to say first impressions are fantastic, my first suit fitting perfect and the colours matching the bike well. I am now wearing LS2 helmets with a new design and I must say that not only is the helmet brilliant Paul and the crew have really made me feel a welcome part of the LS2 family.
