GR MOTOSPORT and CHLOE JONES take on the World’s best Women in WorldWCR at Jerez

In her first appearance at the Spanish Circuit using Pirelli slick tyres on a Yamaha R7 Chloe Jones delivered an impressive performance at Circuito de Jerez during the last round of the Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship.

The weekend was marked with exciting racing and the 20-year-old from Daventry made impressive progress throughout practice and qualifying securing a solid sixth-place finish in both feature races. The weekend was also marked with a second World Superbike Championship Title for Toprak Razgatlioglu delivering ROKIT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team their first Title.

Qualifying

Following a good start in FP1, Chloe showcased her skill and focus in the qualifying session, setting competitive lap times that positioned her well for the races ahead. Despite fierce competition from the field, she managed to secure a 9TH place spot on the third row, setting the stage for her WorldWCR debut. A fantastic effort considering this was only her 2nd outing on this bike.

Race 1

The first race kicked off under clear blue skies, with Chloe making a strong start. As the more experience front runners started to ease away a little Chloe quickly settled into her rhythm, maintaining her position and keeping a close eye on the front pack. As the laps progressed, Chloe demonstrated her exceptional race craft learning from every lap.

Chloe held her ground and started to put a little pressure on the rider in front, ultimately finishing in a stunning sixth place. Her ability to manage tire wear and maintain consistent lap times was key in achieving this result, as she fought hard against seasoned competitors.

Race 2

The second race saw hotter conditions, and Chloe approached it with renewed focus. Off the line, she again made a strong start, quickly finding her groove and pushing her way through to 3rd place on lap1 in the thick of a seven-way battle for the lead. Unfortunately, Chloe was penalised with a double Long Lap Penalty for a start infringement. Despite this set back Chloe showcased her resilience and skill lapping faster than the soon to be crowned new World Champion and crossing the line in 6th, still only 10seconds off the race win inclusive of the penalty!

Chloe’s performance was a testament to her growing confidence and ability to compete at this level, culminating in another sixth-place finish.

Chloe Jones shared: – “This was the best weekend of my life! It’s all I keep dreaming about. I had so much fun and enjoyed every single minute of it.

Danny, DK and Brent gave me a mega bike and the confidence to go out with everything so new to me and push straight away, which is important in this championship.

To be given the opportunity to battle with riders like Ana and Maria after only 34 laps on this new bike and track was so cool for me as they are the riders I looked up to growing up and throughout my career.

Thank to GR Motosport for giving me the opportunity not only to race in the WorldWCR but be part of their amazing Team as I enjoyed every single minute working with them.”

Brent Gladwin Team Owner: – Our first WorldWCR event really has been a wonderful eye opener and what a fantastic way to finish off an exceptional year for GR Motosport.

The WorldWCR credentials are there with the inclusion of 2018 World Supersport 300 Champion ‘Ana Carrasco’ and from what we had seen on TV the rest of the competition was super strong too.

It was always going to be tough for Chloe and the Team as we had no experience with the championship, bike, track or tyres so finishing sixth in both races and lapping Jerez at the same speed as the front runner’s highlights Chloe Jones’s and GR Motosport’s potential as formidable competitors in the WorldWCR 2025.
