Disappointment Ends a Brilliant Weekend

The highs and lows of World Championship Motorcycle racing were on full display this weekend.

Following the incredible excitement of our maiden podium finish just 24 hours earlier, our hopes were high as Chloe lined up on the front row for Race 2. She made a fantastic start, immediately settling into the lead group for the 12-lap battle, as they began to break away from the chasing pack.

On lap 5, and to the delight of the huge home crowd, Chloe boldly hit the front—taking on the best women riders in the world and showing her true pace and determination.

As the race entered its closing stages, a fierce six-way battle for the podium unfolded. Heading into the Melbourne Loop for the final time, Chloe dived into third position. Unfortunately, in a dramatic moment, Herrera went for a narrow gap and made contact—sending Chloe crashing to the ground. She quickly remounted and fought hard to finish 11th, salvaging valuable championship points.

Chloe Jones:- “What could have been…. Mega race today, battled with the top 3 Spanish riders all race. Even managed to lead my first ever world championship race today! Went into the last lap in 4th place but knew the last sector I was strong But sadly I took 3rd again going into the Melbourne loop and Herrera hit me knocking me off… Thank you to the orange army for helping me get the bike picked up so quickly, shame the bike took forever to start but still p11. Got to take the positives from the weekend though… first podium, lead my first world championship race, P5 in the championship and battled with the main 3 title contenders and shown this is where I should be after some hard rounds. The atmosphere and the support from the fans was unreal, The chanting, screaming and cheering was something else, I can’t thank you all enough for that! Mum dad sisters family sponsors thank you for everything. To the whole GR Motosport thank you for believing in me and giving me a mega bike and for all the hard work over the weekend! We will come back stronger at Balaton in 2 weeks’ time!

Despite the heartbreak, Chloe now sits 5th overall at the halfway point of the season. With the next round taking us to the all-new Balaton circuit in Hungary, the team is more determined than ever to regroup and push for top results.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters—especially the incredible home crowd, who created an unforgettable atmosphere. And remember: if you don’t have TNT Sport, you can watch all our races live on YouTube by searching WorldWCR.
